Leeds United have brought in one recruit this summer so far, in the form of midfielder Mateusz Klich from FC Twente.
It is believed that head coach Thomas Christiansen is now looking at defensive reinforcements, with Goal.com reporting that the club are interested in Bologna defender Filip Helander.
The publication claims that the Serie A outfit, who signed the Sweden international just six months ago, are holding out for a bid in the region of €6m (£5.3m), but Leeds have offered approximately £1.8m less than the asking price.
The 24-year-old has been addressing the rumours, telling Fotboll Skanalen that he is completely oblivious to the rumours and is content with life at Bologna.
“I do not know. I do not know anything. I’m not too familiar with [the speculation]. I’ve just been on vacation recently. I like Bologna and have been doing very well there.”
Despite his comments, Leeds fans have been speculating about whether or not the club will sign the defender, who played alongside Elland Road favourite Pontus Jansson at Malmo and for the Swedish national team.
It is worth noting that Helander made just 13 appearances in all competitions last season due to injury problems.
