The decision to retrospectively ban Oumar Niasse continues to divide opinion, but it’s in the past now. The real question for Everton is what role the the 6 foot striker should play in the Merseyside derby this Sunday, having returned from his suspension to make the bench against Huddersfield last weekend.
Despite being frozen out for much of his two years at Goodison Park and even spending some of it on loan at Hull City, the Senegal international is still the only experienced out-and-out centre-forward at Sam Allardyce’s disposal.
Youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin certainly hasn’t let himself down in Niasse’s absence, but the 27-year-old has also delivered when called upon this term – in fact, he’s averaged one goal per 76 minutes of top flight action throughout 2017/18.
So, Everton fans, would you make room for Naisse in the starting XI when Sam Allardyce’s side travel to Anfield in the Premier League this weekend? Let us know by voting below…
