The former Belgium international is set to be a guest of honour when Lille play host to Rennes in Ligue 1 on Sunday. The 33-year-old is returning to where it all began for him, with his senior breakthrough coming in French football.

Hazard spent 12 years on Lille’s books, stepping out of their academy system to take in 194 senior appearances and score 50 goals. He helped them to Ligue 1 and Coupe de France glory, before securing a move to Premier League giants Chelsea in 2012.

Hazard enjoyed more title success in England, along with Europa League and FA Cup honours, before joining Real Madrid in 2019. The talented forward flopped badly at Santiago Bernabeu, leading to his early retirement in 2023, but is still held in the highest regard by Lille.
