Eric Bailly has Besiktas contract terminated Was sidelined last season due to 'poor performances' Could be close to joining Villarreal GettyWHAT HAPPENED?
The Turkish side announced the termination on X. The Ivorian had joined the Turkish side just four months earlier after he and the Red Devils mutually ended their tenure together. Bailly's release occurs in a very contentious situation. The club sidelined him along with five other stars due to poor performances and incompatibilities within the team. Given that Bailly was unable to get involved with the side because of an injury, his agent claimed that the treatment of Bailly had been unjust.

Luckily for the defender, however, he could soon be on the move to La Liga as per reports by Fabrizio Romano, who has stated that Villarreal boss, Marcelino likes the Ivorian and wants the club to sign him as a free agent. The report has suggested that the deal is very close to being completed.
WHAT NEXT FOR BAILLY?
Bailly's entourage will be working hard to ensure they get the deal with Villarreal sorted quickly as they look to ensure that the Bingerville-born player makes the squad of the Yellow Submarine for their first game in 2024 which is against Valencia on January 2. The Spanish side have struggled with their form this season as they sit 13th in the league.
