The Estadio Akron has been sanctioned with a one-match ban due to the bottle-throwing incident during the match between Chivas and América. This means Chivas will have to play their next home game behind closed doors.
It all happened at the end of last Saturday's Clásico, in which Chivas and América played to a goalless draw. As the players were heading to the locker rooms, a glass bottle thrown from the stands was seen hitting América defender Kevin Álvarez on the leg.

One year before the 2026 World Cup, this is the second time that Estadio Akron has been involved in incidents of violence. Due to recurrence, the Disciplinary Commission has ruled that the stadium must host the Matchday 13 game between Chivas and Cruz Azul behind closed doors on Saturday, March 29.
WHAT ESTADIO AKRON AUTHORITIES SAID
Estadio Akron announced that after identifying the person responsible for throwing the bottle, a complaint was filed with the Jalisco Attorney General's Office. Additionally, the FMF was notified to revoke their Fan ID, preventing them from entering Mexican stadiums in the future.
