The Daily Express is reporting that Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is planning clear the air talks with Carlos Tevez. However, Mancini admits that there are no guarantees that Tevez will wish to stay even if Manchester City manage to secure the place in next season’s Champions League.
Tevez stunned Manchester City in December by asking for a move with the claim that his relationship with the club hierarchy. But he withdrew his transfer request after a meeting with the club’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, but there is still the suggestion that Tevez will seek a move again in the summer – especially after Inter Milan showed an interest.
For now the talks will have to wait until the season is over. Mancini said “It’s more important to know when Carlos is fit to play again. Hopefully, after we win the FA Cup and get into the Champions League, we can talk about his position.”
Tevez has three years remaining on £150,000 per week contract, but the club are well aware that he has never stayed at any of his clubs on a long term basis, generally moving on every two years. Tevez has been a star performer in the Premier League this season scoring 19 league goals.
