Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has heaped praise upon 18-year-old talent Andre Green, tipping the youngster to become a regular fixture in the first-team in the not too distant future.
The winger was promoted to the senior squad from the U23 side this season and Bruce is impressed with what he has seen, with Green making a second consecutive start in the 2-0 victory over Bristol City this week- although he was unfortunately substituted with a suspected hamstring issue.
Having performed well when given the chance, Bruce has hinted that there could be future openings for him in the first-team. Speaking to BBC West Midlands, he said:
“He’s hit the bar, he’s hit the post, and he’s had two wonderful chances. What’s refreshing about him is he has got that natural pace and he’s got a real good chance. Fair play to him, he’s grasped the situation and looks a very decent young player at the moment.”
Green has provided a bright spark to an otherwise lacklustre campaign for Villa, who have failed to mount a push for an immediate return to the Premier League, but he could be a crucial player over the course of the next 18 months as Bruce aims to bring top-flight football back to Villa Park.
