According to reports emanating out of Turkey, Adnan Januzaj’s representatives will meet with officials from Fenerbahce over the next few days over a potential move.
What’s the word?
Takvim report that the Belgian international has become a target for the Istanbul giants as they plan their recruitment around the FFP restrictions imposed on the club.
A deal could reportedly be brokered over the next few days, when the parties meet in the Turkish capital.
Currently on loan with Sunderland, the 22-year-old has failed to embark on the upward trajectory many expected him to when he emerged under David Moyes at United. With that in mind, the SuperLig titans are said to be keen on offering him a route out of life in England.
Is there any chance for him at United?
There’s little doubt Januzaj is a hugely gifted footballer. Back at the start of the campaign, Jose Mourinho hinted he remained in his long-term plans, despite being loaned to the Black Cats.
“We cannot be selfish, we have to think about the players and he is in the right place with a manager that likes him.
“We want him back.”
However, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ boasts a packed frontline at Old Trafford and it’s difficult to see any real place for him right now. While the Sun has recently suggested Januzaj would like to stay in England should he leave the Theatre of Dreams, perhaps a move to Fenerbache could offer him a new venture in his stalling career.
United included a buy-back clause in the deal that saw Memphis Depay move to Lyon in January, a stipulation that could be wise should they indeed sell the Belgian international.
